Kristine + Ken
When we were little, we lived just eight miles apart across the Hudson River, Ken in Fair Lawn, New Jersey and Kristine in Riverdale, New York. We did not know then that we would be meeting many years later in our late twenties after Kristine had moved 900 miles away to Atlanta. A friend introduced us on a whim one evening and we just clicked. Kristine had a trip planned to go back to Manhattan for New Year's, so we promised each other that if we were still speaking by that time, we would try a proper in-person date. We spoke every single day from that evening on and by December, we were eager to meet. We ended up spending every day of the trip together, showing each other our favorite spots in the city, telling stories of our childhood, and making new memories of our own. It was in New York that we fell in love. For nine months, we flew back and forth from NY/NJ to Atlanta, spending as much time as we could together. We were sick of living so far apart so Ken moved to Atlanta in August 2012, and after a short time, we found our current home in Cumming, GA. The adventures continued.
Ken proposed in late August of 2014 (on our dog Lucy's birthday!) by surprising Kristine with a gorgeous emerald-cut diamond ring. She said yes and the wedding planning began! We decided to take our engagement photos in New York and wintertime was a must as we recalled our first week together in the frigid city. We chose to plan our wedding for the Fall of 2015 at a beautiful winery in North Georgia as a destination for many of our guests. We look forward to tying the knot and officially continuing to enjoy the many adventures we create together.
The ring and proposal
Ken knew he was going to marry Kristine very early on in their relationship. As Kristine is a wedding planner, the topic came up often in their conversations. After a long weekend in Savannah, Ken decided it was time to start looking for the perfect ring. As a recommendation of Kristine's parents, we made an appointment at brilliant. to meet with Jamie and Katie. We looked at many rings to get an idea of what we liked, but Ken took it from there. Over the next couple of months, Ken secretly met at brilliant. during his lunch breaks and began designing the engagement ring. He wanted to keep his plans under wraps as Kristine can be very sneaky. When it came to the ring details Jamie was knowledgeable and patient. Designing an engagement ring can be a stressful process but Jamie never gave designs, options or suggestions that were outside of the budget. This made for a enjoyable and exciting experience. Ken planned a surprise proposal, but when the ring came in earlier than expected, he just couldn't wait to pop the question. The Friday of Labor Day weekend, Kristine picked Ken up from work early. He asked her to stop at brilliant. on the way home because he wanted to meet with Jamie and Katie about some branding work (as he's a graphic designer). Thinking nothing of this, Kristine joked the whole way there about how she was going to wear all of the jewelry in the store while Ken talked shop. Little did she know that her ring was waiting for her in the case. She spotted it right away, thinking it was just another gorgeous piece of jewelry and asked to try it on. Jamie handed Ken the ring and Kristine said "hey, give it to me!" Ken, hands shaking, looked at Kristine and started his proposal. It is such a blur looking back, with Ken so nervous and Kristine so much in shock. He got down on one knee and she exclaimed "yes, yes, yes!" It was such an amazing surprise and we are so thankful that brilliant. played such a large role in not only designing our ring, but the proposal as well!
