Katie + Cullen
I knew for quite some time that I wanted to marry Katie, but I wasn't sure how or when I would get the nerve to actually do it. I came to Atlanta one week for business and decided I wanted to go look at rings. My sister lives in Atlanta so of course I took her with me for a little moral support. She found Brilliant Atlanta online and asked a few of her friends if they knew someone who had been there before. She did her research and thought this would be just the right place for me.
So, upon arrival I was of course a little nervous, but after meeting Katie and Jamie I started to feel more comfortable. They made the experience so much better. I calmed my nerves and started thinking about what I thought my Katie would like. Jamie brought out a few ideas of what he pictured she would like, based on what I told him about Katie. He really knows his jewelry and we were definitely on the same page. That night he basically lured me in. The next day I couldn't help myself, when I had some free time I returned to take another look. With the help from Jamie, I decided what style of ring I wanted that would be somewhat different than most to give that unique feel for Katie's ring.
We decided together that I would make the drive back down from Athens, TN, next week to make my final decision and to pick the actual diamond for her ring. I am pretty picky so this wasn't the easiest part. I made the trip back down to meet with Jamie that following week which was when I made the final decision on the ring that I wanted. I felt really good about my choice as did Jamie.
A few weeks later Jamie called me and the ring was ready. I was so excited to get the ring that I could no longer wait to ask for her hand in marriage. Everything just felt so right and I wanted to do it right away. So, 4 days later the next chapter in our life began!
Cullen and I started dating almost 4 years ago. Although we already knew each other since our younger days, it was at a Luke Bryan concert with several of our mutual friends where our love story began. Over the past almost 4 years we would always go to our favorite spot, Sunset Rock in Chattanooga, TN which was where we were attending college at the time. We liked to watch the sunset on our anniversaries throughout the years at this spot, but also make spontaneous trips with our friends.
I work at night so when Cullen asked me to go to dinner with two of our good friends on Lookout Mountain, I first told him I would rather wait till the weekend rather than go on a Wednesday. He kept insisting we go so I gave in. Our friend Jesse contacted me Wednesday morning about picking up his mother's camera. He claimed he needed a picture of him and his girlfriend for a Christmas present. Cullen really doesn't care for pictures too much so he acted as if he was aggravated when I told him the plan.
When we got to Sunset Rock I said, "Alright, let's take your picture" to our two friends. Jesse insisted he take just one of Cullen and me first. I'm terrified of heights, but Cullen begged me to get up on the ledge so I did. Jesse snapped one picture and I noticed Cullen reaching in his pocket. I thought he was grabbing his phone to give to Jesse to take a picture on his iPhone.
I was completely shocked to see Cullen getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him. Of course I said yes! Jesse yelled for several of our close friends to come out. Apparently they had been hiding behind some trees and I had no idea! Finding out that Cullen took the time to design my ring really blew me away. I'm so thankful Cullen put so much thought into designing the ring just to make me one happy girl. It made 12-4-13 an unforgettable day!
