Emily + Andrew
I first walked into Brilliant early 2015 with Andrew’s best friend to get an idea of what kind of rings I liked and, honestly, to feel like a giddy little girl for a day. As Nate and I entered the store, we were immediately greeted by Katie and Jamie. They were warm, friendly, and extremely helpful. I was able to ask my questions, get the experience I was looking for, and felt like I found MY jeweler. I left the store with a clear vision and an unparalleled excitement!
On April 10th, 2016, it seemed like the world was working against Andrew when it came to the proposal. His original plan to propose in Piedmont Park conflicted with the Dogwood festival, he had to get me out of an unexpected work shift, and then I almost ruined the entire thing! As we pulled up to the Alpharetta Greenway entrance, my eyes immediately filled with tears. My stomach was killing me and I desperately wanted to go home. As we began to make our way out of the parking lot, Andrew stopped the car and demanded I get out. “Do you know what today is? Today is the two year anniversary of our first date and I have a question to ask you. Will you please go for a walk?”. At this point, I knew what was going on. Of course, I had to go for a walk.
As we began to walk down the greenway, Andrew was clearly nervous. I did my best to have small talk and plan my “I’m getting proposed to” face. After a few minutes, we stopped at a bench and Andrew began to read a speech from his phone. To be honest, I don’t quite remember what he said. I just remember the look on his face, his shaking body, and the manly prevention of tears. Before I knew it, Andrew was down on one knee, pulling a Brilliant box from his pocket.
The ring took my breath away. It encompasses both of our personalities and has subtle nuances that make it both unique and personal. Andrew told me he had the opportunity to work with Katie and Jamie to create the perfect ring. He was a part of the design process, received constant communication regarding the ring’s status, and felt as though the arduous ring buying process was made a little simpler by the Brilliant family.
After the proposal, Andrew and I were able to take some pictures with our friend Chase who was secretly hiding in the woods the whole time! It was such a sweet moment spending the first half hour of being engaged taking pictures and really digesting the relationship milestone. Over the past couple of weeks, we have been able to celebrate with friends and family through various dinners and have even made progress towards wedding planning.
I am thrilled to announce Andrew and I will be getting married April 15, 2017 at the Engine Room in Monroe, Georgia. Over the next year, we are both excited to work with Katie and Jamie and Brilliant to design our wedding bands. I see us returning to Brilliant over the years to continue the tradition of personal and custom jewelry pieces. Welcome to OUR family, Brilliant and thank you for being a part of this special time in our lives.
