Chelsea + Seth
Chelsea's Story - The Relationship
Although we'll officially be married within the next year or so, Seth, Jacob and I have been a family almost since the beginning. We met online, when I was finishing my master's degree in Chicago and Seth's son, Jacob, was four years old. After 8 months, I moved to Florida to earn my doctorate at Florida State University. We spent 18 long months visiting each other only once or twice a semester and spending many late "date" nights on Skype. When Seth and Jacob moved to Atlanta for his job, a 17-hour drive turned into a 5-hour drive. Now we spend half of the week together in Marietta, GA and the other half we are only 2 hours away from each other while I work at Auburn University.
Together as a family, we have been able to overcome the obstacles of hundreds of miles and sporadic visits, and we've always managed to remain connected and involved in each other's lives. No matter where we are, the three of us are family, and Seth and I have built a stronger friendship and partnership than I have ever known. I knew almost from the beginning that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him, and part of the life we began to build together was strongly rooted in our Jewish community. The night that Seth proposed, I was thrilled to be surrounded by close friends and family to celebrate my conversion to Judaism; I was distracted by the excitement of the evening, and had no idea what Seth was planning. He pulled me up in front of everyone to give a toast, and at the end he got down on one knee - I could hardly contain my emotions! I could not have imagined a better proposal, a better fiance, or a more beautiful, perfect engagement ring!
SETH’S STORY – PICKING THE RING
I went to Jamie because he was referred to me by a friend and I had seen some examples of his work that he had done for them. He is very personable and his casual approach really set him apart from the box stores that try to fit you into something they already have or up-sell you beyond your goals. Once I had the proposal date in mind I took all the info I had and went to Jamie. He was immediately welcoming and engaged in the experience and had one goal in mind: To make the largest and most important jewelry purchase of my life as painless and fulfilling as possible. He listened to all my concerns, looked at the links I had gathered, listened to the advice I had been given about what Chelsea wanted and what I was looking for, and he presented me with a selection of rings. We sat and talked about what I liked about each piece and narrowed down the style and then we picked The One. After the ring was chosen, we moved to the diamond. Jamie walked me through the various types, what I should be looking for and the features of each comparing the different stones side by side to really see the clarity and color of each cut and piece side by side. We weighed the pros and cons and again, with zero pressure, he sent me on my way to think about it. Finally I made the call, Jamie set all the wheels in motion, and our ring was off to be created - just for us!
